Uni Offer

Postby The_Bad_Man » August 2nd, 2007, 11:40 am

Two weeks ago I got my uni results back. Suffice to say I now have a certification in Biosciences.

Anyway, after many phone calls (and been told my application got lost), I had my interview for Science and Education /w qts (my course of choice for next year).

Anyway, at the end of the interview the guy says have you any more questions, so I say, "when am I going to hear back". He says unless you have any more questions I can tell you now, I say I have more questsions but i'd rather here his, so he says i'm happy to offer you a place on the course, then a load of spiel about how i'd bring somthing to the course and all that jazz.

So anyway the crux of this post is me saying i've got my uni place next year, i'm on the road to been a teacher.

Well done Baddie! Good luck with your course and I hope you pass and become a teacher. If you do I will send my potential children to your school so you can teach them how to be truly evil. And about Biosciences.

I'll actaully be able to teach any science, but my pure speciality will be Chemistry. I tend to be better at Biology, but i'm more than aware that biologists are in no short demand. Whereas there is a severe lack of chemists and physicists.

Though what I found more interesting was that at the end I won't just be qualified for secondary school students (11 - 16) my qts will also cover college students (17 - 18).

For me thats a delight as i'd much rather teach A-level chemistry than all three sciences at a base GCSE level.

I doubt very much i would like to teach people younger than 16-17 as most of them don't want to be there and would cause a lot of trouble. I'd prefer to teach peple who want to learn, really.

Thank you! I'm not sure I'd be any good with teaching. Only seems yesterday since I was taught myself.

Congratulations!

As long as you're better than my chemistry teacher.

EDIT: I would just like to say that no matter what my last sentence looked like it implied, I was never raped by a chemistry teacher.

I don't know, unless you had said it I would never have thought you meant that. But now with you been so quick on the defensive, I feel you were raped by your chemistry teacher... or that you wasn't raped by said teacher but instead made forbidden passion in the stock cupboard.

Oh yeah, and if you really want to make a chemistry lesson good, use lots of hydrochloric acid. Maybe you could even offer it to a student and tell him it's water -it's a harmless practical joke!
