heya guys.... seeing as ivce written a few origional songs now i thought i might get the opinions of my favourite bunch of people on a couple of them.. any kind of constructive critisism is helpfull... it may help to think that the songs are all being played on an acoustic guitar, in a style thats kind of like a mixture of bob dylan, eric clapton and muse. please help.
The chorus' are in italics

Back to no-where

Postby sam_vimes » May 19th, 2006, 9:42 am

Get a train out of the city
Get off at the end of the line
Find a bus to no-where special
Just sit back and waste some time

Sit under an endless sky
Watch the breeze, move the clouds
Pull my 6 string out the bag
Just sit back and sing aloud

I’m going back to no-where
I’m leaving today
I’m going back to no-where
To start over again

Pick my bags up move along
Find a spot, in the shade
In a golden field under blue skies
Just sat down a while to play

Hitch a ride back to the city
Find a bus to no-where and play
On the streets, of the city
I just sat down a while to say

Instrumental – Improvised

Verse 3

Chorus

No-one to live for

Postby sam_vimes » May 19th, 2006, 9:43 am

I got a one hand in my pocket
I got an idea in my head
With a full tank in my chariot and
No words left unsaid

There’s a mile or two in front of me
Where I am all alone
I wouldn’t have it any other way
I’m always at home

I got, no one to live for
I got, nothing I need
I got, no one to live for
Except me, except

There’s a, stop at the side of the road
I’m gonna stop, pick up a beer,
And with no words left unsaid to me
I’m still wishing you were here

Oh I put you down and I pick up the road
And I think of where I want to be
And I head back home to Worcester town and
I put my foot to the steel

Instrumental – as verse, palm muted

V3

Chorus

The Queen of spades

Postby sam_vimes » May 19th, 2006, 9:47 am

Oh how to live when she has gone
Have a few drinks carry on
And put yourself through therapy just to
Block out the memories

A road trip here, a lock in there,
Let me out of this nightmare
Now I can’t rest here in my bed
Cos I cant get her out my head now

Leave me alone
I’m the king of knaves
Leave me alone
You don’t know what I crave
Leave me alone
I’m the king of knaves
I raise a toast
To the queen of spades.

(Play as V1)
Oh how to seek when you are blind
Armageddon’s hard to find and
You can’t get through a world you don’t know
You cant think of what she’s doing without you

(play as V2)
Oh what to do when you have left
And kept yourself to yourself
Get off the cross it’s just aesthetic
Get off the cross you look pathetic

Instrumental – Em – G ––– D
Ladies and Gentlemen, Charge your glasses
I raise a Toast. To the queen of spades

note.. the queen of spades is a pet name for one of my ex girlfriends... we dodnt get on for a while after we broke up but this was written when we started getting along again

Shadowlands

Postby sam_vimes » May 19th, 2006, 9:52 am

Far beyond the shadowlands
Lies a place where we can be
Ourselves, with no-one crying wolf
And calling out, it’s heresy.

Far beyond the wasteland
Through the canyons of the mind
Lies a place that’s only ours
That no one else can find

Far beyond the shadowlands
Far beyond the shadowlands
Far beyond the shadowlands
A wasteland made for you and me

So creep out of the covers and
Come give me a hand
Stand with me in the candlelight
Come see what I have found

In the darkness of the otherworld
I find the king of knaves
He speaks to me from a desolate tomb
A shadows width away

Far beyond the shadowlands
Far beyond the shadowlands
Far beyond the shadowlands
A wasteland made for the king of knaves

Far beyond the shadowlands
At the end of the rainbow
The king of knaves lies waiting
eating nothing and drinking less
the king lives on
in a world of shadows
through the wind of change

Far beyond the shadowlands
Far beyond the shadowlands
Far beyond the shadowlands
A wasteland made for you and me

Far beyond the shadowlands
Far beyond the shadowlands
Far beyond the shadowlands
A wasteland made for the king of knaves

note : the bold bit is spoken word with guitar background.

Excuse my french, but i'm actually fu**ing impressed, usually anyone like yourself a slap the big emo label on, dig deep inside and spit on you, but those lyrics are rather catchy, especially the first one.

please dont think of them as emo... they are all meant as happy songs... queen of spades is not about a bad break up, more being friends again after a bvad break up... but thanx bad man... any suggestions on improvments?

Well you can always save on the posting and packaging by sending it to me digitally. You could actaully make a torrent of it and send it to me using something like Azerous and actually use a file sharing program as it was originally intended to.
